Upon completion of this module you should be able to: Understand the difference between homoatomic and heteroatomic molecules and Distinguish between cations and anions. A molecule is a group of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds. Atoms combine chemically to the form molecules. Homoatomic molecules contain atoms of the same element. As shown below H2 and O2 are homoatomic molecules because each contains two atoms bonded together that are the same.
